Very friendly customer service, with great food. We sat at the bar where we could see the yakitori kebabs being cooked. It's nice to see my food being cooked in front of me. We had the selection of 5 and one of the hotpots. The food was very tasty and well worth the price. I'd come here again.

A sweet little hideaway in Kaimuki, beautifully decorated with the likes of Japan. Food was very good, service was excellent serviced my Masumi. Would have like to try the yakitori which was not available for lunch, a revisit is a must to have them! I had the deep fried oysters and rice with little fish sprinkles, very good and delicious!

We (the 4 of us) ran the full gambit and Everything was spot on: Sashimi combo - ahi was fresh, tai was firm, scallops were the right size (not monster big, not too small - the most flavorful size), grilled gyutan was expertly seasoned and not too tough or too mushy, 3 different yakitori with both shio (salt) only and tare - delicious!! Ajidashitamago (seasoned omelette) was fantastic, agetofu (lightly oil fried tofu) was seasoned perfectly and let the balance of tofu flavor flow freely with each bite; whole grilled squid was also expertly cooked and seasoned so it wasn't too salty or too chewy. With a drizzle of lemon juice it was great. Finishing it off with matcha creme brulee (greentea based creme brulee) was sweet, and still allowed the deep flavor of green tea to add balance to the flavor. We will be back !! Mahalo Aki !!

A great little Japanese restaurant in Kaimuki serving up delicious yakitori, fresh sushi and sashimi and other ono dishes. Great service as well. If youΓ’β¬β’re in the mood for a taste of Japan, stop by Restaurant Aki. You wonΓ’β¬β’t be disappointed.

Great little hidden spot for lunch in Kaimuki, with a great selection of bento choices that include hearty fare like the katsu and curry, or lighter ones such as the butter fish. Parking at lunch is difficult, as the adjacent lot in back fo the Post Office fills up at that time. Bring quarters if youΓ’β¬β’re parking in this lot, it only has coin meters! There are other lots nearby that take credit card, though.

Simplicity is beauty! The agedashi dofu is sublime. The beef tongue hot pot with pea sprouts -- awesome!

For serious sushi lovers. We ordered fish flown in from Japan. Ootoro was delicious and Hokkaido uni was amazing.

This is an EXCELLENT restaurant run by Japanese nationals. The lunch teishoku is very inexpensive. There were 8 lunch menu selections to choose from. Additionally, we could order off of the dinner menu. The staff is very friendly. My son's comment was, "I feel like I'm in Japan." And he's a Japanese national too.
